This was an experimental litter to see what varieties Freya would produce. Freya is a hooded ruby eyed female, of an unrecognised colour. The colour is somewhere between champagne and silver fawn, but clearly neither.
The litter produced no babies that were her exact colour, but we have retained two boys of a similar colour. These two boys both have black eyes. We believe that Freya's colour is the ruby/red dilute of the colour the two boys are. This colour, also, appears to be undefined by UK or US show standards.
This suggested that our previous assumption, that Freya's colour was a form of champagne; the ruby/red dilute of the black gene, was incorrect. A conclusion that was backed up from the fact that her litter (with a black roan) produced no black babies. All babies were variations of blue, or Freya's wheat-like colour.
